This great little gadget is perfect for slicing kirimochi into thin sheets for various uses.
Kirimochi is Japanese mochi rice cake that has been dried to become shelf-stable. Typically, Japanese households store kirimochi in their pantries to add to nabe soups, or to bake, fry, or toast.
With this machine you can slice your hard blocks of kirimochi into thin sheets. Simple set the thickness (1mm, 2mm, or 3mm), insert your mochi block, and push the plunger down to slice.
The slices can then be added to soups or noodle dishes, or cut into shapes with the included animal-shaped die cutters. Bake your animal-shaped mochi slices in a toaster oven to create crunchy, puffed-up mochi snacks.
