One is lacquered in a deep black color, and the other is vermilion red. Both bowls feature a floral motif on the inside, with a temari on the outside. Temari are traditional Japanese balls, similar to hacky sacks. The temari design is often used on Japanese goods and fabrics as it's seen as a cute reflection of youth.
They're constructed of molded wood powder that has been lacquered using traditional Japanese techniques, making them strong and durable, and perfect for everyday use.
